My approach
Good research communication requires more than technical accuracy. It demands careful interpretation, ethical sensitivity, and an understanding of how knowledge moves across languages, institutions, and power structures.
My work is shaped by years of experience designing, conducting, and communicating social research, often in politically and socially complex environments. I pay close attention to how research questions are framed, whose voices are foregrounded, and how evidence is used to shape policy and practice.
Clients come to me when they need an intellectual partner who understands the substance, politics, and ethics of the knowledge they are producing, and who can support their work across all stages, from project design through to dissemination and publication.
As an academic myself, I understand how closely publications are tied to professional and organisational reputation. I work with clients to ensure that text structure, argumentation, and language reflect their analytical intent, producing texts that are precise, readable, and intellectually faithful.
Long‑term experience working in Mexico and the wider Latin American region has given me deep cultural, social, and linguistic insights that strongly inform my work. I see research communication as a powerful tool for challenging global hierarchies and and building more equitable collaborations.
I am particularly committed to working with civil society organisations, especially those in the Global South, to communicate research in ways that are grounded in their own priorities, realities, and perspectives, to help shift perspectives and drive social change.

My background
My professional experience spans academic research and teaching, applied research and programme evaluation, and specialised editorial and translation work, including many years working as an academic in Mexico. Originally from the UK, I am now based in Worcestershire in the West Midlands of England.
Research and writing have been central to my career. I have led and contributed to research and evaluation projects over many years, primarily in Latin America and the United Kingdom, with additional projects in Africa and Europe, in collaboration with international agencies, NGOs, and community organisations.
I am also an established author, with a sustained publication record in both English and Spanish spanning peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, edited volumes, research reports, and policy-oriented outputs. This first-hand experience of academic and applied publishing informs my work as an editor and translator, supporting critical engagement with argument, evidence, and structure, as well as language.
Deep subject expertise and long-standing social, cultural, and linguistic knowledge of Latin America also underpin my work, giving me a strong sensitivity to context, ethics, and audience.
